Narrating the ordeal Insp Matake said Mukarara had gone to the dumping site to look for scrap metal in the company of his friends, Mr Tawanda Dube (38), and Mr Synod Dzingirai (28) who reside in Sungano plots at a dumping site out of town.
When Messrs Dzingirai and Dube were warming themselves around a fire they saw a car coming. Mukarara said he was not comfortable with the car’s arrival hence he ran away with Mr Dzingirai.
After they had hidden, Mr Dube then called them and told them that the car was just dumping waste. It is alleged that Mukarara disappeared from the two but they thought he had gone back to look for some scrap metal.
Minutes later Mr Dzingirai told Mr Dube that he heard someone breathing fast. They looked around and found that the person was Mukarara.
Mr Dzingirai asked Mukarara what had happened but the deceased could hardly answer. He died when he was still trying to talk.
Mr Dube then looked for help and the body was taken to Masvingo General Hospital for a post-mortem and the cause of death is still unknown.
Inspector Matake said the investigations are underway to ascertain the actual cause of his death.
“Police investigations are in progress to find out the cause of the death. The body has been taken to Masvingo General Hospital for postmortem,” said Insp Matake.
