Man drags in-laws, village head to court

A MARANGE man dragged his in-laws and the village head to Mutare Civil Courts last week following a row over Presidential farming inputs.

Garai Muzanenhamo was praying for a protection order against his in-laws and village head whom he described as heartless and cruel.

He told the presiding magistrate, Mrs Yekuai Chigodora, that his in-laws, Junior, Witness, Patrick Mukwecheni, Denny, Chenjerai Mangezi and the village head, Lazarus Chaparika were tormenting him.

“The village head together with my in-laws took the 50kg of fertiliser which I had received as part of the Presidential farming inputs scheme.

“They spilled it to the ground saying I did not belong in their village, yet I bought a stand there.

“I kept my cool, but the following day they sent Patrick and Chenjerai to assault me and I was beaten badly to the extent that I could not walk home. I could not fight them because I am disabled. They went to my house where Chenjerai slapped my wife before threatening her. They said they would kill them if they fail to relocate to Hwedza.

“The reason why I left Hwedza for Marange was that my wife had been attacked by ‘birds’ and she got mentally ill, so I had to take her to her parents’ village for them to help me find a solution to her ailment,” he said.
