Man fined over posters

Tshuma.

Prosecutor Miss Sharon Mashavira said that on July 13 this year Ngozo unlawfully tore down 14 campaign posters belonging to three House of Assembly contestants for the Harare North constituency and the incumbent Councillor for Harare North Ward 18.

Eight of the effaced posters belonged to incumbent Harare North Ward 18 Councillor Mr Brian Mafurambudzi, while three belonged to MDC-T candidate Mrs Theresa Makone, one to Zanu PF candidate Cde Tongesai Mudambo and two to MDC-T independent aspirant Emmanuel Chiroto, all vying for the Harare North House of Assembly seat.

The informant, Moses Chirima of Hatcliffe, received a call from an unidentified caller telling him that Ngozo was destroying posters belonging to different parties. Chirima and an MDC-T supporter arrived at the scene and saw Ngozo tearing down the posters and holding some of the shredded pieces in his hands. Earlier this month an MDC-T activist and a Zapu official were arrested on separate occasions for tearing down posters belonging to parliamentary hopefuls.
