Man fined US$200 for assaulting woman

A MAN from Karoi in the Mashonaland West has been fined US$200 or alternatively two months in jail for assaulting a woman following a misunderstanding.

Bodmas Mutungamiri whose age was not given was convicted by a Karoi magistrate for attacking Susan Masaraure over an undisclosed dispute.

According to a statement posted on its official X page (formerly Twitter), the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said Mutungamiri’s father tried to resolve a dispute between the accused and the complainant on 24 March at Matsika village in Karoi.

“As the dispute was being addressed, the accused person became angry and verbally assaulted the complainant before punching her in the face several times causing her face to swell. The accused person was ordered to pay US$200 or two months’ imprisonment,” reads the statement.
