Man fined US$250

was fined US$250 after pleading guilty to contravening section (3) (1) of the Explosives Act.
He appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Nomsa Sabarauta.
Mbewe will spend the next three months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

Prosecutor Ms Tafadzwa Makwande told the court that on February 18 this year, police received a tip off that there were explosives stored at Thomas Mbodza’s house in St Mary’s.
They searched the house but found nothing.

Mbodza reportedly told the police that he had a mine claim in Shurugwi and had some people who supplied him with the dynamites.
Mbodza led them to Huruyadzo shops where they called one Godfrey Gutura using his cellphone advising him that he had found some buyers.

Gutura was arrested but said he was an agent for Mbewe.
Gutura called Mbewe to come with the explosives.
Mbewe was arrested while in possession of 15 explosives and fuses.
