Man found dead in Pumula North pond, axe recovered nearby

A man was found dead at the Pumula North ponds in Bulawayo on Wednesday morning, with an axe, jacket and a pair of shoes recovered near the scene.
Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo said firefighters responded to the incident and retrieved the body from the pond.
“We retrieved the body of a male adult from the Pumula North ponds. He has been identified as Mr Lincoln Maseko of Pumula North. An axe, a jacket and a pair of shoes were recovered near the pit,” said Mr Mhlangano.
He said preliminary information indicated that the deceased was believed to be a South African returnee.
“The information we are getting is that he is a South African returnee. It is a very sad incident,” he said.
Police attended the scene and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are underway.
