A polygamous Harare man last week brought his second wife to court seeking a protection order against her after alleging she was abusive.

In his application at the Harare Civil Court, Jaden Musvika told magistrate Ms Johanna Mukwesha that his second wife Loveness Mungate, whom he does not stay with, was harassing him and causing chaos at his shop.

He said that despite looking after the needs of Ms Mungate and their child, his life was in danger as he had been receiving death threats from her. Although she was evicted from the shop through a court order, she was forcefully coming to grab groceries, he alleged.

He said that some time last year, Ms Mungate hired some men who accompanied her to the shop and threatened to kill and dump him in Mukuvisi River, if he did not leave the business premises.

Responding to the claims, Ms Mungate denied the allegations and argued that Mr Musvika was an irresponsible father.

After hearing submissions from both parties, magistrate Ms Mukwesha granted a five-year peace order against Ms Mungate and she was also ordered to stop threatening Mr Musvika, or abusing him emotionally.
