A MEMBER of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee in Matshetshe area in the Gwanda district has allegedly impregnated two Grade Six pupils from a local school. The man (name withheld) is alleged to have enticed the girls by giving them money, biscuits, bread and sweets in exchange for sex.
The impregnated girls, one living with her mother and the other with her siblings as her parents are outside the country, are said to be both aged 12.
According to one of the villagers the man has been meeting one of the girls in the bush area on her way to or from school where he would have sex with her.
As for the other girl he allegedly preyed on her at night when other people were asleep.
“What really bothered some members of the community is that one of the girls who is from a poor family has recently been buying sweets and biscuits for other schoolchildren. The girl was questioned about her source of money and she revealed that she has been getting pocket money from the member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee in exchange for sexual favours. Her mother was not even aware of the situation but was alerted by other villagers.
“She took her child to Mzimuni Clinic where the pregnancy was also confirmed by the nurses who then advised her to report the matter to the police,” said a neighbour.
The matter has been reported at Nkwidzi Police Base.
“The other girl whose parents are away could not be asked a lot of things as the parents are yet to be informed about the matter,” said the villager.
