A DZIVARESEKWA man appeared in court for allegedly robbing a taxi driver he had hired.

Khumbulani Dladla (31) appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere, who remanded him in custody.

The court heard that on September 3, at around 7pm, Dladla, armed with an unregistered Beretta pistol, went to Copacabana where he “hired” the taxi driver, with the intention to rob him.

Along the way, near Budiriro 5 turn-off, Dladla produced a pistol and threatened the taxi driver demanding cash and valuables.

The taxi driver surrendered his wallet, containing US$50, which Dladla took and disappeared into the night.

Upon his arrest, Dladla was found in possession of the gun.

Lancelot Mutsokoti prosecuted.
