A Bindura man has been jailed 111 years for rape and robbery.

Luckmore Mazambani (38) was convicted on SIX counts of rape and THREE counts of robbery after a full trial at Bindura Magistrate’s Court.

Mazambani is believed to have committed the crimes between January and December 2023, targeting single women.

In a statement, the National Prosecution Authority said Mazambani terrorised the women with machetes and axe-handles.

“Once inside, he would subject his victims to a double horror: robbery and repeated brutal rapes.

“He stole cash, cellphones, groceries, and other valuables.

“He brutally sexually assaulted his victims with extreme violence,” reads the statement.

Mazambani was sentenced to 15 years on each count of rape and 12 years on each count of robbery, resulting in the lengthy sentence.
