A 42-year-old man, who raped a woman who was asleep, has been jailed for 15 years.
The man, from Chief Gambiza area, Gweru, appeared before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court facing rape charges.
It was proved that on June, 7, at about 11 pm, he gailed entry into the complainant’s bedroom and found her asleep.
She was naked.
The State proved that the complaint had her two-year-old baby by her side.
The man then raped the complainant.
The complainant woke up and found the accused person raping her.
She lit a torch and identified the accused person.
The man pleaded for forgiveness and asked her not to reveal the case to anyone.
The complainant’s husband arrived home around midnight and she revealed the matter to him.
A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
