A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Harare was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the horrific crime of raping his daughter, aged 9.
On 23 September, the accused called the complainant into his bedroom, where he ordered her to remove her clothes before raping her. After committing the first act, he warned her not to tell anyone. Shortly afterward, he summoned her back to his bedroom and raped her again.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe in a statement on X said the matter came to light later that day when the complainant confided in her mother about the abuse. Concerned for her daughter’s safety, the mother mobilised neighbours, who assisted in apprehending the accused. A police report was filed, leading to his arrest.
Following a thorough investigation, the court convicted the man and sentenced him to 20 years in prison for his heinous actions.
