A SAKUBVA man will spend the next three months in prison after he attacked his ex-wife with a golf club on the head, resulting in her being hospitalised.Moses Mutiwo (33) had been slapped with a four-month jail term, but one month was suspended on condition of good behaviour. Mutiwo had denied using a golf club to assault Thulani Magura (28), saying he used a stone. He appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura, who convicted him on his own plea of guilty.
Responding to the allegations, Mutiwo told the court that he was angry with Magura since she had come home late after having invited him to visit her.
“Your Worship, I was so angry that she invited me to her house, but she turned up some hours later. She only came back at around midnight of which I had arrived at her place at around 6pm. I, however, did not use a golf club as is being alleged, but I used a stone and I regret my actions,” he begged the court for forgiveness.
Allegations were that on May 6, Magura arrived at her place of residence and saw Mutiwo sitting in a car that was parked just beside her house.
“Mutiwo gained access into Magura’s room and went on to slap her on the face several times before hitting her on the head with a golf club,” said Mr Karombe.
