adminJoseph Masita of Tshapfutshe village under Chief Sitauze area in Beitbridge pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder, but was convicted by regional magistrate Mr Owen Tagu due to overwhelming evidence.
The prosecutor, Mr Johannes Tlou, said on 7 September, Masita spotted the complainant who was tending goats with his sister in the grazing area.
Masita who was armed with an axe charged towards the two and they fled on realising that he was shouting and threatening to axe them.
Masita then took after them.
When he caught up with the woman he struck her several times in the head after which he fled from the scene.
The woman was later assisted by her sister who took her to Beitbridge District Hospital.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Masita the following day following a tip off and the blood stained axe used in committing the offence was also recovered.
