Man Jailed for raping a 15-year-old girl.

A 34-YEAR-OLD man from Mt Darwin village, has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl.

The incident happened on 13 September 2023 at approximately 7pm were the 15-year-old victim was alone at her residence. An hour later, the victim awoke to discover the offender in her room.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), upon her outcry, her father immediately entered the room, and was struck with an axe handle by the offender, leaving him unconscious.

“The offender subsequently seized the victim, removed her from the homestead, and threatened her with an axe. He then proceeded to remove her clothing and raped her then fled the scene.

“The victim returned to her home, informed her father of the incident, and together they reported the matter to a local police post. The victim was then referred to a hospital for a medical examination,” said the NPA in a statement
