Sources said trouble started when one of the men proposed love to a 16-year-old girl and the other challenged him saying the girl was his girlfriend.
The man who had proposed love to the girl responded by hitting the other with a bottle in the face.
Other imbibers joined in to support their friends and two teams of four men against three men suddenly emerged.
The team of three men was overpowered and they decided to run away. Three of the four men followed in hot pursuit.
They managed to catch up with Ndlovu and they attacked him all over the body with iron bars and he died on the spot.
Villagers found Ndlovu’s body with injuries all over and a report was immediately made to the police.
The three suspects are still at large.
Police spokesperson for Bulawayo Province, Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo, confirmed the incident.
“We are investigating a murder case that occurred at Hope Fountain on Christmas Day where people quarrelled during a beer drink.
“We have not made any arrests but we are making a follow-up on the case,” said Insp Moyo.
He urged people to avoid solving their disputes through violence.
“I would like to discourage people from solving disputes through violence. In most cases the violence results in fatality, especially when parties involved are drunk.
“We urge people to be peaceful. As police, we will not tolerate violence,” said Insp Moyo.
