48-YEAR-OLD Amos Nduna of Chipinge reportedly fatally struck his brother with a machete over a long-standing dispute.

Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri confirmed the arrest.

“On May 5, 2025, at around 9 am, the accused person, who had a long-standing dispute with his brother, met the latter on his way to his banana plantation,” she said.

“A heated argument ensued, which resulted in a confrontation over their dogs, but they were restrained from escalating the situation further and eventually parted ways. Later during the day, the accused person followed his brother to the banana plantation, and upon arrival, struck him multiple times all over the body with a machete.

“The body of the victim was discovered the following day when his household helper reported for her routine duties and found the house locked.

“Concerned, she decided to proceed to the banana plantation, where she made the horrific discovery of the victim lying in a pool of blood, prompting her to file a police report.”

Investigations carried out led to the arrest of Nduna and the recovery of the weapons used in the commission of the crime.

He has since appeared in court and was remanded in custody to May 22 for routine remand.

Det Insp Muteweri said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police continues to encourage members of the public to seek mediation or professional help to avoid such irreparable outcomes.”
