Man kills mother and stabs niece (5) with a screwdriver

A 22-YEAR-OLD son’s rage boiled over into a fatal stabbing of his mother, while his innocent niece fell victim to his savage screwdriver attack.

A seemingly trivial disagreement between Nyasha Bandawe and his 59-year-old mother, Hilda Drawu, erupted into a brutal bloodbath on 5 February 2025, leaving the mother dead and her son facing a chilling murder charge.

Bandawe unleashed a deadly assault, stabbing his victim repeatedly in the neck with a kitchen knife, before attempting to cover his tracks by hiding her body under the bed and locking the door.

In a statement on X, the police said: “He then took a screwdriver and went on to stab his five-year-old niece several times on the neck before fleeing.”

The young victim was rushed to Sally Mugabe Hospital for medical attention and treatment of her injuries.
