Man kills wife, in-law

misunderstanding with his wife Joylene Zhuwawo (35) whom he accused of infecting him with HIV which angered his mother-in-law Eustina Luwisa (79) who sent him packing out of her house.

Acting Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident saying that Luwisa died on the spot while her daughter Zhuwawo died two days later at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she had been admitted.

He said police had launched a manhunt for Bashiro who was still at large.
“We received a report following the death of Luwisa and Zhuwawo who died after the house they were sleeping in was set ablaze by Bashiro following a domestic dispute. Bashiro was accusing Zhuwawo of infecting him with HIV and we have launched a manhunt for Bashiro who is still at large,” he said.

It is alleged that on July 4 Bashiro had a misunderstanding with Zhuwawo whom she accused of infecting him with HIV.
This did not go down well with Luwisa who ordered Bashiro to pack all his belongings and leave her house.

It is reported that after the dismissal Bashiro left his belongings at Leonard Chirimudewe’s house in the same compound before going out on a beer drinking spree and returned at around 8pm to sleep.

On the following day at around 3am it is alleged that Bashiro woke up and proceeded to Luwisa’s residence where he set the hut in which both Luwisa and Zhuwawo were sleeping ablaze before disappearing in the darkness.

The fire was spotted by a neighbour David Chapima (41) who was coming from a funeral in the compound and he alerted Ephinos Zhuwawo, the son of Luwisa and they both rushed to the scene. They managed to rescue Joylene Zhuwawo but failed to rescue Luwisa as the roof had collapsed and the whole house was engulfed by the inferno.

Juru police attended the scene and rushed Joylene to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and took Luwisa’s body to Murehwa district hospital for postmortem.
It is reported that on July 6 Joylene Zhuwawo was pronounced dead and her body is awaiting postmortem.
Asst Insp Mwanza appealed to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of Bashiro to report to the nearest police station.
