A 43-year-old man allegedly killed his wife for “misusing” US$60, which he wanted her to use to buy groceries.

The incident occurred in Kumayo Village in Manicaland.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said Milton Tsadzirai allegedly killed Rutendo Kapfudzarurwa (31).

“Around 10pm, Tsadzirai awakened his wife and asked her about the US$60 he gave her to buy some groceries.

“She had been left with US$20 and he asked her what she had used the other US$40 for and she failed to respond.

“The husband became aggressive and beat his wife using his hands several times.

“He also took a cooking stick and beat her until it broke.

“She tried to escape but was dragged back before he took an iron bar and started beating her.”

Inspector Chinyoka added:

“He beat her all over the body and later used a black metal square tube to hit her countless times.

“He later stopped attacking her after she became unconscious.

“The accused went to tell Patrick Muranja and Blessing Mukamba, who arrived at the scene.

“She was already dead and she had many bruises all over her body.”
