A WOMAN yesterday claimed maintenance for the upkeep of her two children, saying her husband was an irresponsible man.
Loice Rugadza told the court that she had been caring for their children alone because her husband, only identified as Daniel, wasn’t working.

“Now, he is working at Pepsi, but he is still not providing anything for the children.
“I am the one who helped him get the job so that we can better our lives.
“Our first born, who is in Form One, only started going to school last week because he was refusing to pay school fees,” she said.
Daniel offered US$40 for the two minors.
“I cannot offer more than that because my contract was terminated this month, I am no longer working and I will be moving to the rural areas.
“I won’t be staying with her anymore because she gave me a token of divorce,” he said.
However, Loice said Daniel was misleading the court.
“He is lying, he works at Pepsi and is only trying to run away from his responsibilities.
“He is the one who wrote a letter indicating that I am no longer his wife,” she said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Daniel to pay US$60 plus school fees.
After the order was granted, Daniel pleaded with the court to reduce the amount saying he earns US$120 per month.
Magistrate Dhlamini asked Daniel why he lied, but he did not provide an answer.
The magistrate ordered him to pay as ordered or he would be arrested
