A MAN from Bulawayo’s Pumula East suburb was left “half dead” after he was allegedly attacked with a hammer on the head and stabbed with an unknown sharp object before he was robbed of his cash and Honda Fit car.

Samson Mabhiza (31) arrived at his home at around 9 pm and while he was disembarking from the car two robbers who were armed with an unknown sharp object and a hammer approached him.

The family member who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity said one of the robbers blocked his way and stabbed him with an unknown sharp object.

“He fell and screamed for help. They searched him and took US$80 from him, and car keys before they fled in his car leaving him in a pool of blood,” said the source.

Mabhiza’s wife heard screams and upon checking she discovered that it was her husband.

“Mabhiza was rushed to hospital and the incident was reported to the police. Police from Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) thoroughly and skilfully conducted investigations and recovered the car dumped near a bushy area in Pumula old suburb,” said the source.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.“We confirm the incident and we are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of the two suspects. These suspects are from within the community of Bulawayo and they are known by some members of the public in that regard we appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects,” he said.
