A Harare man has reportedly suffered a potential loss of shares worth US$2 million after his business associates allegedly used fraudulent documents to remove him from two companies without his consent.

The complainant, Mr Charles Karimazondo, claims he was unlawfully stripped of his positions as shareholder, director and company secretary of Hookthorn Mining (Pvt) Ltd and Gold Pond Mining (Pvt) Ltd.

George Muchedzi (40), of Chitungwiza, and Innocent Ncube (39), of Norton, appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Jesse Kufa facing fraud charges.

They were remanded in custody to today for a bail application.

Prosecutor Mr Rufaro Chonzi told the court that between March 4 and March 17, the two suspects allegedly connived with Philippe Louis Joseph Mahe to misrepresent facts to the Registrar of Companies.

The court heard that the trio submitted documents falsely indicating that Karimazondo had resigned or had been removed from his roles in the two companies.

Acting on the alleged misrepresentation, the Registrar of Companies effected the changes, resulting in Karimazondo being removed from the company records.

As a result, Karimazondo suffered potential prejudice of US$2 million, representing the value of his shares in the two mining firms.
