AN Aspindale man lost US$4500 to two women he met at the Scorpion Kings musical show at the Hippodrome in Braeside on Friday night.
The show was the maiden date in Harare of the celebrated Amapiano duo of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
It attracted a considerable number of fans.
Mpilo Matutu, 29, met the two women – Mellisa Katiyo, 22, of Belvedere and Makanaka Mukundwa, 20, of Waterfalls – at the Hippodrome.
They started drinking beer together.
Mpilo took the two women to his blue BMW with the intention of taking them to another city bar. While they were sitting in the car, Mpilo realised that the person he had sent to buy more drinks and bring them to the car was taking too long to deliver. He went to look for him, leaving Melissa and Makanaka in his car.
When he returned, he realised that the two women had left the car.
He checked for his money, which was in the dashboard, and could not see the US$4500.
He lodged a police report against the two women, leading to their arrest.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.
“Police arrested two women in connection with theft.
“The two were reported to have stolen cash amounting to US$4500 in a parked car.
“The suspects were arrested in Belvedere following a tip-off,” said Insp Chakanza. (H-Metro)
