A MAN has been arrested for assaulting his friend, who later died from the injuries sustained in the attack.
The incident happened in the Avenues area of Harare.
Gift Mugabe, 28, is believed to have assaulted the now deceased Leo Moyo for yet-to-be known reasons at the corner of Fife Avenue and 9th Street in Harare.
He battered Leo until he was rescued by a woman only identified as Melissa.
She then informed Leo’s girlfriend, Tracy Tsandukwa, of the attack.
Tracy found Leo seated on a chair while Gift was apologising for what had happened.
At around 7pm, Tracy found out that Leo had died and lodged a police report against Gift.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating a murder case in the Avenues area.
“The accused person was reported to have assaulted the now deceased.
“The body of the now deceased was ferried to Parirenyatwa Hospital for post-mortem,” said Insp Chakanza.
