A 49-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo’s Entumbane suburb has been arrested for allegedly raping his co-tenant’s daughter (10) repeatedly for close to a year, bribing her with 50 cents each time he raped her.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity, allegedly raped the girl several times since last year.

Sources close to the family said the man would give the girl a 50 cent coin each time he raped her.

The man is said to have been caught red-handed by the girls’ father while raping her last Sunday.

Bulawayo Police provincial spokesperson Inspector Simango confirmed the arrest and said the man will appear in court soon.

“I can confirm the arrest of a 49-year-old man who is alleged to have raped a co-tenant’s 10-year-old daughter several times since last year.

“The girl’s father caught the man raping her in his bedroom last Sunday and reported the matter,” she said.

Insp Simango advised parents not to leave their daughters in the custody of males, whether they were relatives or neighbours. — @NyarieBakie
