AN attempted unlawful entry into premises at Christian Marching Church in Chitungwiza, earned a man of no fixed abode a nine-month jail term.
Blessing Mandere (32) on June 11, and at around 9am, went to Christian Marching Church in Chitungwiza in Unit M where Ndakarevei Mhindu (36) resides. On the day, the court heard that Mhindu, a vendor, had left her house at around 8am, going to sell her wares at a shopping centre in the same area. Mandere took advantage of the situation and upon arrival, two hours later, attempted to unlawfully gain entry into the room by breaking the padlock. During the commission of the offence, he was spotted by Mhindu’s neighbour, Mcllistor Apelo, who alerted the public.
Upon sensing danger, Mhindu took to his heels but the mob chased and apprehended him before taking him to the police. Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Jessy Kufa, Mhindu admitted to unlawful entry into premises charges. He was slapped with 15 months prison term but had six months of his sentence suspended on condition of good behaviour. Mr Tendai Mukariri prosecuted.
