A HARARE man told the court that he was unemployed and can only pay US$15 a month to support his minor child.
His ex-wife was claiming $80 000 for the upkeep of the kid.
Hellen Fani accused her ex-husband, Matthew Musheyi, of neglecting his child.
“When it comes to food, my parents told her to come and collect for the next three months until I secure a job.
“I told her that when the child gets sick, she can contact me and I will make sure the child gets medical attention where I used to work,” Matthew said.
But Hellen disagreed with him.
“He is lying about food because I was not told anything.
“There is no communication between us, the only time I call him is when the child is sick, but he does not respond.
“He is also lying that he is not working,” she said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Matthew to pay US$35.
