‘She is very violent, she broke the car windows, removed electric cables’

A HARARE man claims his estranged wife is very violent and smashed his car windows on their way to court.

He offered $50 000 maintenance for his children.

Success Mavhunga told magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini that in addition to the maintenance, he would also pay school fees and buy clothes for them.

Success said he had initially been ordered to pay $10 000, but he had been giving his estranged wife, Primrose Mutore, more than that.

“I gave her $35 000, then $40 000 and last month I gave her $50 000 and I will give her more depending on how much I realise that month.

“I am pleading with her to assist me since she is also working and owns shops.

“She is very violent, and as we speak, she broke the car windows today and removed electric cables from the car.

“Therefore, it is not easy to communicate with her, she is a complicated person,” Success said.

In response, Primrose told the court that his offer was not enough considering that he owns vehicles and each of them cashes in US$50 per day.

“We used to operate five cars and all of them used to cash in to me.

“I need to pay rent and I need to be maintained since we are still legally married.

“He took my car claiming it needed to be fixed, but he is now using it as mushikashika,” she said.

Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Success to pay $100 000.
