A HIGHFIELD man is on the run after raping and impregnating his former tenant’s 15-year-old daughter.
Daniel Sagwidza, of Western Triangle, is reported to have started sexually assaulting the Form 4 student in June and July last year, and buying her silence with cash.
The rape was exposed when the girl’s mother discovered that she was pregnant.
Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed the case and appealed for information that might assist them to arrest Sagwidza.
“The accused person is a former landlord of the complainant’s parents. Sometime in June 2023 at around 1pm, complainant was alone at home while her parents were at work.
“Accused person got into complainant’s room and raped her without protection.
“After the rape, accused person gave complainant US$20 and told her not to disclose the matter.
“He continued to rape complainant until July 2023 and she fell pregnant.
“The girl’s mother suspected that the complainant was pregnant and she revealed the rape,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.
