A PENHALONGA man is accused of pampering his girlfriend’s kids while leaving his own blood and flesh to wallow in abject poverty.

Having had enough of her husband’s shenanigans, Cathrine Charima approached Mutare Civil Court applying for upwards maintenance variance from $2 900 to $26 000 for their two children with Daniel Charima.

Daniel is reported to have turned his back on his family and now living with his girlfriend where he is doing anything possible to spoil the woman’s children.

Mutare magistrate, Ms Purity Gumbo presided over the case and ordered Daniel to pay $5 200 as monthly maintenance for the two children.

Ms Gumbo also advised Cathrine to also contribute towards the welfare of the two children.

In her application, Catherine said: “I am staying alone with the kids and this is my first time to meet him after he deserted our matrimonial home. I am taking care of the children alone.

“Instead of looking after his own children, he is now taking care of his girlfriend’s children.

“When I call him to ask for more money, he claims that he has loans to be paid. I think he is doing all this to fix us.”

In response, Daniel said he had sired two children with his new lover and also had an obligation to contribute towards their upkeep.

He also said he was a teacher earning $18 000 per month and could not afford the money Cathrine was demanding.

“I am now married and have two children together with my current wife.

“She is also expecting our third child. I also take care of my mum and my siblings, therefore I cannot afford the $26 000, even half of it,” claimed Daniel.

He, however, failed to produce the birth certificates for the two children he claimed to have sired with his girlfriend.
