A HERDMAN from Inyathi has appeared in a court for allegedly raping his employer’s nine-year-old daughter. Dalubuhle Mavundla, 19, allegedly pounced on the girl, whose name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, in March this year. The court heard that the man asked the Grade Three pupil to clean his room and when she entered he followed her and tripped her to the ground.
He then raped her and the matter came to light after the girl told her teacher about the incident. Mavundla appeared before regional magistrate Sibongile Marondedze. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape and was remanded in custody to today.
Prosecuting, Concilia Ncube said on March 8, the girl was outside with Mavundla while the girl’s sister-in-law was in her bedroom nursing her child. “The accused lured the complainant into his bedroom hut claiming that he wanted her to do something for him.
“Upon getting into the house the accused tripped the complainant to the ground and undressed her. He then used his right hand to unzip his trousers and proceeded to violate the complainant,” said Ncube.
The prosecutor said after the act, Mavundla threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the rape. “A police report was made after the girl revealed the abuse to her teacher, leading to the accused’s arrest,” said Ncube.
