A WATERFALLS man is facing charges of allegedly raping his friend’s teenage daughter.
Tichaona Njanji appeared before regional magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa.
The court heard that in April, the victim went to her uncle’s funeral.
Later that day, she complained of chest pains to her aunt, who gave her some medication.
After taking the medication, the victim felt sleepy and went to sleep in her father’s bedroom.
The girl woke up at around 7pm and saw Njanji standing over her bed, in a naked state, and he was surprised that she was up.
She realised that she was naked and searched for her clothes but she couldn’t find them.
The child reported the case to her aunt who overlooked it.
The case came to light when it was noted that her grades in school had deteriorated.
She revealed the rape incident to her teacher.
The child was taken to the police and it was found out that she was already pregnant.
