A 28-YEAR-OLD Gwanda man has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter while she was a Grade Seven pupil at a local school.
The man from Sptizkop raped the juvenile several times at her home while she was alone some time last year. The matter came to light after the girl’s parents suspected that she was pregnant after noticing changes in her body. He was supposed to appear for trial before Gwanda regional magistrate, Mr Mark Dzira on Thursday but the matter was postponed to 15 May. He was granted $100 bail.
Representing the State, Mr Blessing Gundani who asked for a postponement said the complainant was not available as she had recently given birth. The accused is facing charges of indecent assault and rape. According to the State facts Matsheza first fondled the juvenile in June last year and then started raping her repeatedly in the following months.
