A SOUTHLEA Park man sexually abused his 16-year-old stepdaughter whenever her mother was away, from last year, until he impregnated her.
Langton Manyuchi was arrested on Monday.
This followed the report filed by the girl’s mother to the police when her aunt informed her that her daughter was pregnant.
The girl revealed the rape to her aunt, who had questioned her, after noticing some behavioural changes.
Manyuchi, 40, would summon the girl to his bedroom whenever her mother was at work and rape her.
Harare provincial police deputy spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova, confirmed Manyuchi’s arrest and urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children.
“The man took advantage of the absence of the girl’s mother and raped her on several occasions.
“On May 15, at around midday, the girl visited her aunt.
“Her aunt suspected that she was pregnant and bought a pregnancy test kit and tested her.
“The girl tested positive.
“She narrated how her stepfather had been raping her from 2022,” said Ass-Insp Dzvova.
Ass-Insp Dzvova also revealed that one Takunda Tapfuma, 27, from Waterfalls has been arrested for allegedly raping his ex-lover, aged 24, after giving her a drink laced with drugs at his house.
He had picked up his ex-lover from work to discuss a possible reconciliation.
