Man refuses to be ditched- stabs girlfriend to death

A 24-YEAR-OLD woman has died at a local hospital after being stabbed by her boyfriend on Sunday night at her family home in Hyde Park plots near Pumula South, Bulawayo.

Luke Mpande, fled the crime scene and disappeared into the night after stabbing Aloshas Ncube according to a family member and witness, Mr Nkosilathi Moyo.

Mr Moyo said Mpande arrived at their plot around 8pm on Sunday in the company of an unidentified friend.

“On their arrival, Aloshas was washing plates outside the yard. Mpande went straight inside while asking Aloshas to follow him. Within seconds, I heard screams coming from her, and I rushed inside the house,” said Mr Moyo.

He recounted that upon entering, he found Mpande brandishing a knife menacingly towards him. Mr Moyo summoned the courage to wrestle Mpande in an attempt to disarm him.

“When his friend realised that I was overpowering Mpande, he joined in to assist him. I realised that I might be in danger too, so I escaped and ran into the bushes. I returned a few minutes later, but the two had already fled,” said Mr Moyo.

While awaiting an ambulance, Aloshas revealed that she had previously been in a relationship with Mpande, but their affair had ended.

She was rushed to Mpilo Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day.

Acting Bulawayo police provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed that the police are handling the matter and will provide further details in due course.
