A 42-YEAR-OLD man lost US$420 and his identification documents to three men who pounced on him after his vehicle broke down at Wildbeast Farm, Gweru.
Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said the incident occurred on Monday at around 11pm.
Insp Mahoko said the man’s Mazda B1600 broke down at the farm and he tried to fix the problem, but failed and decided to sleep in the car.
“At around 11pm, three men approached the car and opened the passenger door, which was not locked,” he said.
“They pulled the driver out of the car and started beating him with a wooden stick while one of them searched the vehicle. They took cash US$420, his national Identity particulars and bank cards before they fled into the darkness.”
Insp Mahoko said the police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
He also urged members of the public to choose their safety first when faced with such challenges.
