A GOKWE man ran over his three year old son as the unsuspecting boy came rushing towards his father’s car, police said yesterday. Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the boy was walking with a relative from Gokwe Light industries heading to the town centre when he spotted his father’s Nissan Caravan Commuter omnibus headed towards them.
“The boy, identified as Prince rushed towards his father’s vehicle and in the process he was hit and died on the spot,” he said.
The matter was reported to the police.
In an unrelated incident an unidentified woman jumped to her death from a moving lorry she was travelling in. Insp Mahoko said the incident occurred on Wednesday.
“On the fateful day the driver of the lorry, Lumuno Munsaka was driving from Siabuwa towards Gokwe town when he was stopped by an unidentified woman who asked for a lift,” he said.
While Munsaka was driving, the unidentified woman who was seated at the back suddenly jumped out of the moving lorry and died on the spot.
The body was taken to Gokwe District Hospital mortuary.
“We are appealing to members of the public who might have a missing relative to assist us in identifying the now deceased.”
