A TROUBLED woman who is subjected to incessant insults and assaults from her 37-year-old son has approached the Mutare Civil Courts seeking protection.Alice Mutezo (72) told Mutare magistrate, Mrs Annia Ndiraya, that her son, Claud, was troubling her.
She no longer wants to stay with him in her house.
“He assaults me ruthlessly accusing me of being a witch and claiming that I killed his father and as I speak, I am nursing wounds which I sustained when he hit me with a bicycle wheel.”
She told the court that at one time Claud tried to rape his elder brother’s daughter whom she stayed with.
Because of that, she said, she no longer wants him at her house.
“I do not hate Claud for he is my son but what I hate is his behaviour. I don’t know why he acts like an animal each time i try to talk to him?” she said.
Claud did not have kind words for his mother whom he described as wicked.
He said she was negligent towards him and his brothers as they grew up.
“This woman let us prepare our own food as we grew up and can you imagine how that feels when you have to go to school after cleaning the house and making your own food while your mother rested in her bedroom. She burnt my blankets and now wants to evict me from the house my father built,” he said.
Mrs Ndiraya ordered him to stop harassing, assaulting, insulting and disturbing his mother’s peace.
He was also evicted from his mother’s house and warned against visiting her with violent intentions.
