A BULAWAYO man has appeared in court for allegedly selling his house worth $60,000 to two people who allegedly paid for the property in full.

Nesbert Chikaka (59) of Hillside suburb, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure facing fraud charges and was remanded to July 1 on $200 bail.

Through his lawyer Priviledge Vundhla from Mutuso, Taruvinga and Mhiribidi Attorneys, Chikaka asked magistrate Mashavakure to grant him bail pending trial as he had no intention of interfering with ongoing investigations.

The State led by Nkathazo Dlodlo was opposed to bail claiming that Chikaka would interfere with State witnesses or abscond as he is facing serious allegations.

Magistrate Mashavakure granted Chikaka $200 bail and ordered him to stay at his given address.

He was also ordered to report to the police twice weekly.

Dlodlo alleged that on December 2 last year, Chikaka sold his house in Southwold to Lindiwe Ndebele for $60,000 and an agreement of sale was drawn to that effect.

“Before Ndebele could effect a change of ownership, Chikaka then again sold the house to Vimbai Manemo for $60,000 and it was also paid in full resulting in an agreement of sale being done,” said Dlodlo.

The court heard that Chikaka was found in possession of the two agreements of sale as well as the proof of payment from both complainants.
