Man sentenced to 15 years for kidnapping, raping a minor

A 42-YEAR-OLD security guard from Dorowa has been sentenced to an effective 15 years in prison for the kidnap and repeated rape of a 16-year-old girl he lured from a bus stop, holding her captive for three days.

The security guard appeared before the Rusape Magistrates Court.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Doubt Dzenga lured his victim to his residence from a bus stop approximately 200 metres away on January 17 this year.

He then raped her and held her captive for three days.

Acting on a public tip-off, on January 20, police raided the premises, rescued the girl and arrested Dzenga at the scene.

In a statement, the NPAZ emphasised the seriousness of sexual violence against minors, warning that perpetrators of sexual abuse will be held accountable.
