Man sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for raping daughter

A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Buhera was found guilty of raping his 11-year-old daughter on multiple occasions.
The abuse began in January 2024, when the victim was sent on errands by her stepmother.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X said that “while walking home from a grinding mill, the father dragged her to a secluded area and assaulted her. He used the same tactic to rape her again while she was fetching water, and a third time while she was scaring away birds from a field on 16 February.
The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment of which 3 years were suspended. He will serve 7 years effectively.
