Cephas Mufandaedza (54) of Purazeni Village in Gadzingo communal lands allegedly lost part of his private parts after he was allegedly slashed with a knife in the nether regions by a fellow villager, Simukai Rufurwokuda (59).
Rufurwokuda has since appeared before Gutu resident magistrate Mr Amos Mbobo charged with attempted murder. He was, however, not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to October 18 this year to allow the compilation of Mufandaedza’s full medical report.
It is the State’s case as presented by public prosecutor Ms Kumbirai Masasire that on September 25 this year, Rufurwokuda was at a beer drink in Gadzingo communal lands, with the complainant. The two were drinking traditional beer together with an unidentified woman.
A dispute reportedly arose between them as they both claimed to be in love with the woman. It is alleged Rufurwokuda become violent after the woman at the centre of the dispute picked Mufandaedza as her preferred choice.
Rufurwokuda allegedly attacked the complainant with a knife, severing part of his genitals in the process. Mufandaedza fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital.-by George Maponga
