Man stabbed over thieving rumours

A BEER binge turned nasty when a 34-year-old man from Fort Rixon allegedly stabbed his neighbour four times for accusing him of stealing his cow, a court heard yesterday.Roman Ndlovu, 34, appeared before Bulawayo provincial magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing a charge of stabbing Misheck Nyoni, 41.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $100 or 30 days in prison.

“I stabbed him because he was spreading malicious rumours about me saying I stole his cow Your Worship,” said Ndlovu.

Prosecuting, Taurai Hondoyemoto told the court that on September 30 at around 8PM, a misunderstanding arose between Nyoni and Ndlovu.

“Ndlovu was accusing Nyoni of spreading lies about him and he stabbed him four times on his hand with a knife,” said Hondoyemoto.

Nyoni sustained deep cuts and was admitted to United Bulawayo Hospital.
