A MAN from Magwegwe suburb in Bulawayo allegedly stabbed his friend with an Okapi knife and left his intestines protruding following a misunderstanding after a beer drinking spree.

Kwanele Brighton Ncube, 19, is admitted at Mpilo Central Hospital in critical condition after Prichard Moyo, 23, allegedly knifed him on Monday.

Ncube and Moyo allegedly had an argument over an undisclosed issue, which developed into a fight, after drinking.

The court heard that Moyo assaulted Ncube and stabbed him on the lower abdomen leaving his intestines protruding.

Moyo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso facing an attempted murder charge.

Chimiso did not ask him to plead and remanded him in custody to May 26.

The magistrate advised him to seek bail at the High court.

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza told the court that on May 16 at around 7PM, Moyo and Ncube met outside a beer hall after they had a few beers.

“The accused and the complainant had an argument which resulted in the accused assaulting the complainant.

“The accused stabbed him with a knife on the left lower abdomen and his intestines came out,” said Mageza.

He said Ncube was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is still admitted.
