Man stabs neighbour to death over wife

stabbed a neighbour after suspecting that he was having an affair with his girlfriend, police have reported.

Jokoniya Moyo, of Miriam Moyo’s homestead in Mabusumani Village, Bazha area under Chief Malakhi Masuku proceeded to Elliot Ncube’s homestead in the same area at about 1am where Evidence Thembani Ncube (27) was staying and started assaulting him.

Ncube tried to flee but Moyo caught up with him and stabbed him once on the left shoulder. Ncube died as a result of excessive bleeding.

Police spokesperson for Matabeleland South Province, Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya confirmed the incident that occurred last Wednesday.

Asst Insp Ngwenya said Moyo suspected that Ncube was having an affair with his girlfriend, Thembelani Ncube (17), of the same village.

“Moyo proceeded to Elliot Ncube’s homestead where Ncube was staying. He found Ncube sleeping in his room and woke him up and accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend,” he said.

Asst Insp Ngwenya said Moyo went on to assault Ncube with fists on the face and Ncube tried to run away.

“Ncube tried to run away but Moyo caught up with him and stabbed him once on the left shoulder. Ncube collapsed and died from excessive bleeding,” he said.

Asst Insp Ngwenya said a report was made leading to Moyo’s arrest. He said Moyo was in custody and was assisting police with investigations.

The body of the now deceased was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for post mortem.
