Man steals beer

Grace Kaerasora
“Anyone can drink beer, but it takes intelligence to enjoy beer.”

Stephen Beaumont must have had Marakias Chipokota of Chitungwiza in mind when he coined this statement, for the 26-year-old got close to drinking beer, but never got to enjoy it.

Chipokota was arrested on December 18, 2016 for stealing four cans of beer from a supermarket at Chitungwiza Town Centre, and was fined US$20 by magistrate Precious Muzondo on his plea of guilty.

Presumably intending to kick start Christmas merriment early, Chipokota waltzed into the supermarket, headed straight to the liquor section and grabbed the beers worth US$4.

Like a “smooth operator” and “ale grandmaster”, he stealthily slid the ice-cold cans into his underwear.

However, an alert security guard noticed bulges in the 26-year-old’s trousers as he tried to leave the supermarket and apprehended him.

Ms Karen Kunaka prosecuted.
