Man stones Zimoco cars

A 33-year-old man appeared in court last week for stoning three brand new Mercedes benz vehicles that were parked at Zimoco showroom at the Exhibition Park in Harare, inflicting damage worth $2 425. Innocent Wabu was charged with malicious damage to property when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Arnold Maburo. Wabu pleaded guilty to the charges.

In his defence, Wabu said he stoned the vehicles because he was affected by the light produced by cellphones during the night. “I threw stones at the cars because I am being disturbed by cellphone lights in the city especially during the night,’’ he said.

The State quickly requested the court to grant it time to take Wabu to two different medical doctors to examine his mental stability. Mr Maburo consented to the request and placed Wabu in custody until January 14 when the State is expected to produce medical affidavits from the two doctors.

Allegations are that on December 21 at around 7pm Wabu, who was walking in the Exhibition Park, started stoning vehicles that were parked in Zimoco Complex and damaged three vehicles leading to his arrest.
