Man survives three suicide attempts

A Victoria Falls man has been labelled as a�?very luckya�? by residents following reports that he has unsuccessfully tried to commit suicide three times within a few months.

Vusa Ncube (37, ABOVE) surprised many with his alleged botched suicide attempts. It is reported that this month Ncube was saved by a neighbour when he had hanged himself as he arrived in time and cut off the electric cable which he had used.

Sources revealed that Ncube has marital problems with his wife Sibonisiwe and always attempts suicide after having heated arguments.

a�?Ncube inherited his wife from his late brother who died in an accident and it seems their problems push him to committing suicide.

a�?He has tried to kill himself three times and recently he was saved by a neighbour who cut off the electric cable,a�? said the source.

Ward 9 Councillor Somvelo Dlamini confirmed getting a report about the attempted suicide.

a�?I heard about the issue and that ita��s the third time he has tried to do so. Police have asked us to advise people to desist from taking their own lives and we plead with people to seek counselling from community leaders,a�? said Clr Dlamini.

Ncube and his wife vehemently denied that he tried to kill himself.

They alleged that it was mere rumours being spread by their tenants who were desperately trying to evade paying rent arrears, where one of them now owes close to $1, 000.

a�?There is nothing like that. I was just relaxing at home and people just love to talk rubbish. We use the piece of wire to hang the mosquito net and people are spreading lies that I wanted to use it to hang myself,a�? he said.

He claimed he heard about his suicide attempt through his sister.

a�?I was shocked when my sister asked me about it. I want to know the person who started spreading such rumours and he or she should give you details.

a�?Last December I was in the rural areas when people lied that I wanted to kill myself. I think there is another Vusa they always mistake me for,a�? said Ncube.

Ncube is employed in the housekeeping department at a Victoria Falls hotel.

a�?Those spreading the rumours will get tired. We are living peacefully with my wife. We have several houses so a lot of livestock left by my father and why would I want to commit suicide?a�?

The couple has two minor children.
