appeared before regional magistrate Ms Esthere Chivasa.
They were remanded in custody to September 26 this year.
Ms Chivasa advised the duo to seek bail at the High Court.
The complainant in the matter is Mr Talkmore Foya, owner of MKD Shop at Gulf Complex and Blue Line Tuckshop at Mverechena Shopping Centre in Domboshava.
Prosecutor Mrs Tinashe Kanyemba-Makiya alleges that on August 27 this year, Khumalo went to the complainant’s shop with one Mhike who is still at large.
They waited until Mr Foya collected his daily takings and accompanied him to his house on the pretext that he wanted to see his sick son.
He is alleged to have contacted Samson and his other accomplices that the complainant was at his house after he left the premises around 11pm.
The State says Samson and accomplices pounced on Mr Foya at his house around 11:30pm and pretended as if they wanted to see his second wife.
They handcuffed Mr Foya before ransacking the house and stealing US$1 500 and three cellphones.
The gang allegedly took Mr Foya to a stream between Kuwadzana Extension and Snake Park where they threatened him with a pistol demanding more money.
They allegedly assaulted the businessman with sticks.
They later removed the handcuffs and left the complainant who made a police report the following morning.
Police arrested Khumalo who in turn led to Samson Foya’s arrest at Munyuki Shopping Centre in Epworth.
